Jamaica investigator probing troubled gov't agency (AP)

KINGSTON, Jamaica ? A Jamaican anti-corruption investigator has begun a probe into a troubled government agency that is already undergoing an independent review of its alleged mismanagement of a stalled $400 million road program.

Contractor General Greg Christie's staff is investigating the National Works Agency for its purchase of roughly $720,000 worth of new office furniture.

Christie's office says the purchase was made using contract funds from a Chinese company's renovation of a narrow strip of shore leading to the capital's international airport. It says the matter raises "glaring irregularities."
